Spurs’ Duncan, Blair out

Tim Duncan and DeJuan Blair will not play tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the AT&T Center.

Duncan has a sore left knee. He has sat out four of the last five games, missing the Hawks on Jan. 19th, Hornets on Jan. 23rd, Mavericks on Jan. 25th and Suns on Jan. 26th. He played against the 76ers on Jan. 21st.

The Spurs report that Blair has a sore right knee.

The Spurs are in a stretch of their schedule that is allowing the team a lot of rest. They had three straight days off before tonight’s home game. They have two more days off before playing at home against the Wizards on Saturday.

Saturday marks the Spurs’ last home game before the rodeo road trip. They return Feb. 27 against the Suns.

“Over the last few years it is becoming my team and Coach Pop is always challenging me to become that franchise player who closes games and makes good decisions with the ball offensively for myself and my teammates,” Parker said. “I always take to heart Pop’s challenges.”

Spurs have won eight in a row overall: Suns, Mavs, Hornets, 76ers, Hawks, Warriors, Grizzles, Wolves. Spurs have won 16 in a row at home. Spurs have won 16 straight home games and are a league-best 20-2 at home.

Flagrant foul 2 on Suns’ Shannon Brown for hard foul he put on Manu Ginobili. Brown is ejected with 31 seconds left in the third quarter.

Spurs 113, Mavericks 107, final. Tony Parker gets back up and DeJuan Blair has a big night with 22 points. 

Spurs win their seventh game in a row.

All Spurs starters scored in double figures: Parker 23, Tiago Splitter 13, Danny Green 11, Boris Diaw 10, Kawhi Leonard 10. Parker has a double-double with 10 assists. Splitter has a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Spurs’ second-half start is now at 21-6. They lead the Mavs 74-49 and are pulling away.

Tony Parker is back in the game with 8:31 left in the second quarter - but he looks like he lost the first round.

The Spurs take a timeout with 9:18 left in the first quarter after Tony Parker got hit in the face. Parker was bleeding over the left eye. He was replaced by Gary Neal.

Kawhi Leonard, who missed the Spurs’ last game with a knee contusion, is in uniform and starting tonight.

Tim Duncan remains out with a sore knee. He did not make the trip to Dallas.

Duncan, Parker named to NBA All-Star Game

Spurs big man Tim Duncan was named to the NBA All-Star Game roster on Thursday for the 14th time in his career.

Spurs guard Tony Parker, an All-Star last season, was named to the All-Star team for the fifth time.

Duncan is averaging 17.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. Parker leads the Spurs with 19.8 points and 7.4 assists per game.

Duncan remains out with sore knee

The Spurs announced Thursday afternoon that Tim Duncan and coach Gregg Popovich did not travel with the team to Dallas for Friday’s road game against the Mavericks.

Duncan did not play in Saturday’s road victory over the Atlanta Hawks. He played 34 minutes in Monday’s 90-85 road victory over the Philadelphia 76ers - recording 24 points and 17 rebounds.

Popovich, who the team reported was out with an illness, was not at the Spurs’ 106-102 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday. Duncan was on the bench in street clothes.

Spurs beat West rival to keep rolling at home

The San Antonio Spurs took over the game with a 38-point second quarter as they beat the Memphis Grizzlies 103-82 on Wednesday night at the AT&T Center.

The Spurs shot 57.9 percent overall including 9-of-18 on 3-pointers.

Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 19 points, Tony Parker had 17 points and 11 assists, Boris Diaw had 14 points off the bench, Kawhi Leonard had 13 points and Tiago Splitter had 10.

Parker leads Spurs past Timberwolves

Tony Parker scored 20 points on a 10-of-15 shooting night to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 106-88 road victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night at the AT&T Center.

It was the Spurs’ 12th straight home victory.

The Spurs shot 56.2 percent and out-rebounded the Timberwolves 43-38.

Gary Neal had 15 points for the Spurs, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili had 12 each and Tiago Splitter had 10.

Ginobili left the game late in the first half with a left hamstring injury.

Spurs’ road struggles continue

Tony Parker hit a 3-pointer to open overtime but the San Antonio Spurs went scoreless the rest of the way in a 101-98 road loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night in Memphis.

Parker led the Spurs with 30 points, Manu Ginobili had 14 and Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter had 13 each.

Rudy Gay led the Grizzlies with 23 points and Zach Randolph added 18 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Spurs are 3-6 in their last nine road games.

Spurs 108, Lakers 105

Spurs hold off undermanned Lakers

The San Antonio Spurs led nearly the whole game but had to survive a big push from the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers 108-105 on Wednesday at the AT&T Center.

The Spurs have won 11 in a row at home. That one was the hard way - Lakers out-scored the Spurs 30-23 in the fourth quarter. Lakers had the ball with 10.4 seconds left and trailing by three points but failed to score.

“We made some good stops at the end,” Spurs guard Tony Parker said. “We need those to win the game.  In basketball it can go both ways and luckily it went our way tonight.”

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 24 points, Manu Ginobili 19, Tiago Splitter 14 points and career-high 14 rebounds, Stephen Jackson 14, Gary Neal, Kawhi Leonard 11.

“The disappointing thing was our offense,” Ginobili said. “We really played poorly.  Especially in the second half, everything was slow and we were not sharp or aggressive.  They (Lakers) made us make too many mistakes.  Offensively you know they can score with players like Nash and Kobe, they can make things happen.”

The Lakers played without starting big men Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard, who were out with injuries. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 27 points and Metta World Peace had 23.

Spurs 105, Lakers 99 - 3:32 left - Stephen Jackson has gotten two technicals and has been ejected from the game.

Spurs 85, Lakes 75, end of third. Tony Parker 22 points, Manu Ginobili 14, Tiago Splitter 14, Kawhi Leonard 11.

Hornets 95, Spurs 88

Spurs go down hard in Big Easy

The San Antonio Spurs suffered through a listless outing and fell to the New Orleans Hornets 95-88 on Monday night in New Orleans.

The Hornets out-rebound the Spurs 42-32. The Hornets had 14 offensive rebounds, to 9 for the Spurs. The Spurs were slowed by 19 turnover and just never seemed to have as much energy as the Hornets. 

It was a good night for former Spurs Monty Williams (coach) and Dell Demps (GM) of the Hornets. 

Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 21 points, Tony Parker had 16, Tim Duncan 13 and Kawhi Leonard 10. 

The Spurs’ Stephen Jackson played 19 minutes after missing previous game with ankle sprain. He had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. 

Eric Gordon led the Hornets with 24 points and Anthony Davis had 17.

Hornets 70, Spurs 65, end of third. Spurs surged at the end of the third quarter. They’re in range for a comeback if they play good defense. 

Hornets 49, Spurs 41, halftime. Tim Duncan 9 points, Manu Ginobili 9, Tony Parker 8, Stephen Jackson 4, Gary Neal 3.  Ginobili shot 4-of-8, 1-of-1 free throws, 3 assists, 2 rebounds. Only Spurs player who really looked into it that half. 

Hornets 24, Spurs 19, end of first. Manu Ginobili 7 points, Tim Duncan 4, Tiago Splitter 4. Spurs 0-of-4 on 3-pointers.
